Cat Mischief Handmade Quilt

Whenever someone is not sure of what handmade quilt to give as a gift, I recommend they consider a pet-themed quilt like Cat Mischief Lap Quilt Quilted Wall Hanging.

Most pet lovers I know would get a kick out of this brand new, handmade quilt with a cat theme. Each of the quilt blocks has a familiar scene, something I can say since I live with a couple of curious cats.

What is also nice about this handmade quilt is that it can also be used as a wall hanging since it has little tabs on the back to easily convert it from a lap quilt to home decor. What cat lover wouldn’t enjoy having this on a wall!

Now if you live with cats you know they like routine; they have their own way of doing things and, at times I think we are sheer entertainment for them.

My cats also let me know they love me by the looks they give me.

Mousing can be an issue, nicely celebrated in this cat-themed handmade quilt. In the following quilt block, the cats look like they are having a conversation with the mouse, something that periodically happens at my house.

My vet said mama cat has to teach her babies how to hunt. Apparently my cats missed that lesson since they will come tell me there is a mouse in the house before they would ever consider catching it.

If you live with cats you also live with boxes. Not that they are really boxes to a cat, we have one box that has become a toy depository. Not that they don’t have basket sand other places to put them, it’s just that now one of my cats likes to keep them in this particular box. It’s cat logic.

Another advantage to giving this cat-themed quilt as a gift is that there are nice-sized places where custom embroidery can be added with a favorite saying, cat names or whatever you would like to add to personalize the quilt.

Dare I say it, this is the cat’s meow?

Santa Express Lap Quilt Throw

Santa Express Lap Quilt.jpg

Santa Express Lap Quilt Throw

I have to confess, I like easy decorating tips. Actually I prefer easy decorating and that’s why Santa Express Lap Quilt Throw is a personal favorite.

We grew up setting up HO-scale trains around our Christmas tree every year. The track set up itself could take a whole week to lay out so that each of us had a train, and a switch to operate. Once the trains were rolling, the objective was to keep the train engines from running into each other and the cats from knocking the train cars off the tracks.

It was a lot of fun and I can still recall the smell of cookies baking in the kitchen as we laughed at the cats and sometimes didn’t work so hard at keeping the train engines from running into each other.

This brand new, 50x60-inch holiday lap quilt reminds me of those holidays down to the child-like applique designs along the lap quilt border.

If you want to give this as a personalized gift, a family name can be embroidered along the bottom red border.. Or for fun, family member names can be added to the train cars.

Just imagine this hanging from a wall in your den or entrance way, it would quickly add a holiday flavor to any room!

Reindeer Fun Lap Quilt

Reindeer Fun Lap Quilt

I just had a marvelous phone call with a returning customer who buys a holiday lap quilt from us every year for her holiday decorating. She has a two-story entrance to her home and uses the holiday lap quilts to easily set the tone for her holiday parties. She is having a number of young grand children visiting this year so we laughed about what was ahead - kids getting into presents early, cookie decorating with more icing on the kids than the cookies, reading Christmas stories at bedtime.

Considering what she has planned, it was easy to recommend a holiday lap quilt for her, our Reindeer Fun Lap Quilt. The 50x60-inch standard lap quilt features reindeer also getting into holiday antics, a perfect reflection of what she has to look forward to with all of the visiting relatives.

She also wanted a holiday lap quilt with burgundy colors instead of tomato red and Reindeer Fun Lap Quilt includes those colors as well as traditional Christmas green and even a touch of contemporary lime. Or should I call it chartreuse!

I may still have a box of stuffed reindeer toy ornaments I will include so her grandchildren can add their names to the ornament before hanging it on the Christmas tree. She said she expects a few may adopt the reindeer toy and that’s fine, too, I’m sure the reindeer ornaments won’t mind!

Cat Mischief Lap Quilt Wall Hanging

Have a cat lover on your gift list? Then Cat Mischief Lap Quilt Wall Hanging may be just the ticket.

This brand new, imported lap quilt is the standard 50x60 inches made out of quality cotton fabrics. Several feline scenes are depicted on the front, from cats getting into trouble to cat naps. A charming border of red mice taunt the cats in the center.

One of the reasons lap quilt throws make excellent gifts is that you can also hang Cat Mischief as a quilted wall hanging.

Take a look at a close up of some of the cat lap quilt wall hanging scenes:

Put two cats together and you are bound to find something’s amiss. There’s a nod to that in this charming lap quilt wall hanging:

Not all cats are getting into trouble, this little grey is taking a nap.

To make this a personalized gift, add cat names to each scene and the person who lives with cats at the bottom with custom embroidery.

Nice way to celebrate that cat lover on your gift list!

Crazy Quilt Throw

This Crazy Quilt throw is a modern take on the Victorian-Era quilt design.

This Crazy Quilt throw is a modern take on the Victorian-Era quilt design.

Crazy Quilt Throw

In addition to the Language of Flowers, the secret floral code Victorians used in their gift flower bouquets, these nature lovers also gave us the "crazy quilt." This mish-mash of fabrics and fabric pieces was often embellished with detailed embroidery and lace, a process that could take years to complete.

Every time about this time of year, I contemplate starting one of these wondering if I can get it done over winter. By starting, I mean adding detailed embroidery, something I used to love to do to blouses, napkins and whatever else I had handy that needed a little pop of color, or a stain that needed to be covered.

I was thinking I could also add embroidery to this brand new, all cotton imported crazy quilt throw, even though it is already finished. It would require careful pulling of the embroidery floss so the embroidery doesn't show up on the back but I think it can be done.

If not, the crazy quilt patchwork pattern is still lovely all on its own, this one has a variety of floral fabrics that already provide a floral vibe.

Crazy quilts weave all sorts of mixed fabric pieces and designs to make the overall design.

I like crazy quilts as wall hangings, too, they easily fit into any decor and add a nice splash of color.

On second thought, this crazy quilt is fine as it is!

Ballerinas Lap Quilts Throws

Love to stop by and look at these toe shoes at Leach Theatre on S&T Campus, Rolla, Missouri.

Love to stop by and look at these toe shoes at Leach Theatre on S&T Campus, Rolla, Missouri.

Ballerinas Lap Quilts Throws

I don't have my pink toe shoes any more. I don't have some of my knees any more, either, a direct result of too many years trying to make my body do what it is not naturally designed to do as a ballet dancer.

Our teacher was a tall, lean Russian. She carried a walking stick and used it to make sure we understood where our legs were supposed to be for a plie, or a jete. Because I was the tallest in the class, I was always in back and periodically was given a jumping part.

The training served me well. I took to skiing without a fall and can still compensate for a lack of depth perception with the sense of balance ballet has given me. On the other hand, I have worn out my knee joints and will need to replace them at some point so I now happily settle for watching others wear out theirs.

I was looking for a fishing quilt for a summer camp one year when I came across these ballerina lap quilt throws. I didn't hesitate. They are so simple yet elegant, I could see them either on a bed or as a quilted wall hanging in a guest bedroom where someone else would be practicing their dance steps for ours on end.

Have to confess, I loved the fluffy tutus although pink was not my favorite color. I was partial to yellow although because of my brown hair, they usually gave me the pink one.

My years of ballet inspired me to carry these elegant Ballerinas Lap Quilts Throws.

These days I don't meet too many ballet dancers where I live, most young girls are tap dancers, hip hop artists or Irish dancers.

I did meet a young woman at the theatre last week. She was standing in front of the glass case with the toe shoes so I stopped next to her. We smiled at each other. I asked her if she was a ballet dancer and she said yes. I nodded and we looked at the old, worn out toe shoes again and smiled.

We don't tell anyone but yes, those toe shoes do hurt!

Forest Double Wedding Ring Lap Quilt Throw

Doesn't this handmade quilt look like it belongs in a cabin?

I can imagine  Forest Double Wedding Ring Lap Quilt Throw tossed across the back of a comfy sofa in front of a fireplace somewhere on a hillside. Or maybe it's a log cabin by a river, the water flowing gently over nearby rocks one can hear from a porch swing.

Oh, it's a New York loft?

You bet, this brand new imported handmade lap quilt can bring the coziness of a cabin anywhere you place it. The plaid fabrics in the traditional double wedding ring patchwork pattern keep it informal while the solid forest green fabric balances the overall design.

This lap quilt throw is all cotton, making this Forest Double Wedding Ring throw quite warm.

There is a decidedly masculine feel to this handmade quilt. The traditional quilted flower in the center of the double wedding ring quilt blocks are instead four squares. I can also see this handmade quilt in a den or man cave, waiting for that favorite sports event to keep someone warm as they nap through it.

All of my quilts have a story to them and a reason why I carry them. This one is for the men who want a quilt that isn't girly but is still cozy. You supply the fireplace.

Reversible quilts are great to quickly change up a room by turning it to the other side, whether it's folded over the back of a sofa or chair, or stretched out on the foot of a bed.

So pretty on both sides, don't you think?

Corona Lanterns Lap Quilt and Throw

This is a charming throw made by one of my neighbors. Diana has a great eye for color, and it's apparent in this beautiful Corona Lanterns Lap Quilt and Throw.

The fabrics remind me of ocean colors, the aqua blues and greens merging into each other like ocean tides.

I told Diana this lap quilt and throw reminds me of Christmas ornaments and she laughed. She sees trees, which made me think this would also make a very interesting quilt wall hanging at an entrance where everyone can see what they want to see.

A detailed embroidered label on the back gives you full details of quilt materials.

To easily make this made in USA lap quilt and throw into a quilted wall hanging, we can add tabs on the back to thread a curtain rod. Or pick up wooden quilt hangars that you install like a picture frame.

Center bottom is a good place to add custom embroidery in a dark blue thread.

This brand new lap quilt and throw is also easy to customize by adding custom embroidery at the bottom. I would recommend a dark navy blue thread color so the embroidery could be seen through the darker fabrics.

Lovely corporate gift to that special client, or family member.

So pretty, regardless of what you see in it!
