Four Unique Bluebird Dish Towels

One of the ways to quickly update home decor is to change the towels, whether it be in a bathroom or a kitchen. These four unique bluebird dish towels are a charming way to add a handmade touch to that high end kitchen and still have a touch of variety in the dish towel colors.

The white muslin dish towels are handmade themselves, each 16x34 inch out of an absorbent white muslin cotton. The made in Missouri, USA dish towels have been hand-embroidered with vintage patterned bluebirds wearing ties and bows standing around flowers, which add color to the scenes.

We added a stabilizer to the back to give these unique dish towels a longer life after regular washings in cold water. Dry on cool setting in the dryer.

These will make a great housewarming gift, wedding gift, shower gift, birthday gift for the cook on your gift list, quite versatile when it comes to the occasion to give them. You could also divide them into two sets if you wanted to present one set each to two daughters as gifts.

This set of bluebird dish towels can be divided into two separate gift sets, too.

I like to give these practical gifts because then I know they will be used and appreciated every day.

Twig Reindeer Contact Information

Glad you enjoyed my earlier story on seeing twig reindeer traveling through town. There are few things that will put one in a holiday spirit than seeing Santa's transportation driving close by.

Aren't they fun? Can you see one of these in your garden??

In answer to several requests, here's the contact information for the guy who handmakes these twig reindeer:

Please share your photos of your reindeer when you get one, would love to see them in your garden!

Dry Hydrangeas for Custom Decor

If you like to make dried flower wreaths and dried flower gift tags, hydrangeas are easy to dry and long lasting.

Cut off flower heads past their prime and hang from string tied to a rod in a cool dark place. We have them hanging from a rod hanging over the sink in a dark garage corner.

You can use hydrangeas as they are, which is what I do. You can also spray paint them to add color to a wreath. The dried flowers nicely hold color without drying out.

Great excuse to add more hydrangeas in your garden landscape!

Twig Reindeer

It was an early day before Christmas, and all through town, only a few people were driving. When what to my wondering eyes should pass by but a truck full of reindeer, handmade out of tree twigs.

There were a number of reindeer looking up; another few reindeer appeared to be grazing. All were headed to decorate gardens over the holidays with their white twinkle lights and good holiday wishes.

I may just have to ask Santa Claus if I can get one next year.

Boo!

One of my colleagues made these charming paper towel ghosts to hang over our office reception area for Halloween.

To make sure no one was really scared, she added little faces to each of the ghosts. The heads are crumpled up paper, although she said she could have used lollipops.
Tape holds the paper in the round head hanging by thread.
Cute project for kids to make.
After spooking, the ghosts can easily be recycled.
Trick or treat!

Orange Peel Fire Starters

This is an easy homemade gift anyone who has a real working fireplace will appreciate.
Peel orange rind off in a long ribbon; dry.
A basket on top of a refrigerator will help them dry faster.
Package in a gift box or bag with a note.
When lit, orange rinds are great fire starters.
I also use dried orange rinds to get fire starters in my beekeeping smoker.

Welcome

Welcome to Made Just For You.

I started Bluebird Gardens in 1998 on the premise that everyone can make
something; they just don’t always think of it as being special.
In my world, it is the thought that counts.
I’ll let you in on a little secret; making something for someone is
sometimes more fun than giving it away.
I’ll be featuring those wonderful homemade handmade things,
and the people who are special enough to get them.

What are you making?
