Burgundy Double Wedding Ring Quilt

According to interior designers I know, blue is still the favorite wall color for bedrooms so how does one add a pop of color?

Burgundy Double Wedding Ring Quilt is one of the options. This brand new, lightweight traditional patchwork quilt has multi-patterned fabrics with blue and grey tones to tie the quilt into the bedroom decor.

The dark burgundy fabrics will add an elegant pop of color without disturbing the calmness of the blue colors.

The background of this imported quilt includes a patterned cream colored fabric, which adds texture to this bedding.

The hand quilting also helps to give the traditional wedding gift quilt dimension.

To easily turn this into a personalized gift, add custom embroidery with a couple's name and special date in a corner.

All Blue Double Wedding Ring Quilt

Double wedding ring quilts are one of the most popular wedding and anniversary gifts. When I started Bluebird Gardens in 1998, it was one of the most requested patterns by beginning quilters, not something I recommend. The traditional patchwork design is one of the hardest patchwork quilts to make, which is why we started to make and offer them.

This all blue double wedding ring quilt in a king size was inspired by blue flowers in my garden: spring-blooming bluebells are the light blue, false indigo Lobelia suggested the darker navy blue tones.  Since blue is still the leading favorite bedroom color, I thought weaving a variety of blue-toned fabrics would help the quilt fit into a variety of blue home decor choices.

The high quality cotton fabrics include a white cotton with blue flowers to a solid navy blue fabric at the ring corners.

A wide range of blue fabric colors make this a very versatile gift quilt.

A wide range of blue fabric colors make this a very versatile gift quilt.

The double wedding ring quilt was made in the larger king size so that it can be used on both king-size and queen-size beds. Most beds these days have extra padding, making the traditional quilt sizes a little short on the sides.

By selecting a larger size, the quilt will definitely cover the bed sides and, if one size larger than the bed, provide full coverage down the sides.

I still recommend to customers that they measure the mattress size and the height of the mattress to make sure the quilt they are selecting will give them the home decor look they are wanting.

This made in USA quilt was also finished with renewable, sustainable bamboo fill, which adds a warmth similar to cotton but eliminates the environmentally-damaged process for harvesting cotton.

The quilt is machine quilted for easy care. Machine quilting makes the washing and drying of this double wedding ring quilt easy in a home washing machine and dryer. Wash on cold; dry on cool.

The flower inside each of the rings adds a lovely dimension to the overall design.

Double wedding ring quilts are wonderful to personalize by adding a couple's name and wedding date in a corner block.

Personalized Play to Win Throw

Personalized Play to Win Throw

Sometimes it's hard to imagine how one of our quilts and throws will look with custom embroidery. Very understandable since with some quilts and throws there are several places where custom embroidery can be added.

One of the harder quilts to find is one with a sports theme, especially for a baby shower gift. We carry this all-cotton, standard 50x60-inch throw so that it can be used as a nursery quilted wall hanging. When baby is older, it can then become the baby's favorite blanket. Well, that's the plan in any event.

In the case of personalizing Play to Win throw, we recommended the custom embroidery in the solid navy blue fabric at the bottom in white letters. To make sure the lettering shows up, we used 1" letters in Zapf Chancery, our most popular font.

Even through there is a solid red fabric strip between, the lettering size brings the name and date to the forefront.

We also made sure the football nicely blended into the first name. We blurred out the last name to not divulge the name of the person who will be getting this gift.

Now who wants to play?

Custom Kids Drawing Quilt

This customer contacted me in the fall wanting to make a special gift for a wonderful someone moving to Seattle. After discussing several options, I suggested having kids draw their own quilt blocks we could scan and print on fabric.

After several months, I received a package of 5x7 inch cards, each with a special design. We settled on organic cotton with a tree pattern and a white solid cotton frame around each block. After outline quilting around each block with a small meandering pattern in between, the custom quilt was finished and ready to take it's wonderful good wishes to Washington State.

Photo Quilts, Picture Quilts, Photo Memory Quilts

Custom Picture Quilts Wrap You in Memories!

Photo memory quilts are a popular gift for a variety of occasions. We make a variety of custom photo memory quilts from custom quilts with just photos to custom quilts with photos, mementos and original clothing. Bluebird Gardens Quilt Design Service can help you easily design and make heirloom quality custom photo memory quilts with photos, original art, mementos as well as other memory items such as t-shirts and other clothing.

To get your started, the following basic information about custom photo memory quilts:

What Photos Can I Use?
Because we use the highest quality photo printing fabric on the market, both black and white and color  photos will work for picture quilts and other photo memory items.

Changing sizes from original prints can affect photo sharpness and color.
By sizing them yourself, you can decide whether you still want to use a particular photo instead of struggling later if the photo doesn't work well. You can  also use your scrapbooking pages to make custom quilt blocks (photo). You can also mix photos with other mementos and memorabilia to design quilt blocks.

How Many Photos Can I Include?
That depends on the  size of the picture quilts and photo memory quilts, photo sizes and how many pictures you want featured per quilt block. You can use one photo per block. You can also fit two 3x5 or 2 4x6 photos per 8.5x11 quilt block, or arrange several photos to make a photo collage per block. To make the quilt design process easier for you, we use 8.5x11 quilt blocks, the same size as a standard sheet of paper. To give you a beginning reference, we'll show you photos of basic photo memory quilts and outline in general how many photos will fit on several favorite sizes of custom photo memory quilts.

Can I Include A Patchwork Quilt Pattern?
Sure can! We recommend keeping the photo memory quilt patchwork pattern simple  so that it doesn't detract from photos, embroidery or whatever else is on the custom photo memory quilt. One good way to include a patchwork design in a photo quilt is to make sure photos have white space around them so they stand out from the rest of the quilt. In photo, we added a ninepatch patchwork design to the corners of the photo memory throw.

How To Pick Custom Photo Memory Quilt Colors
If photos are taken inside and have a dark background, we recommend  lighter color fabrics  to set off photos. If photos were taken outside and have good lighting, dark colors in photo memory quilts will look good. Besides those guidelines, it's a matter of personal taste. We will discuss options  and recommendations with you prior to starting your photo memory quilt. You are also welcome to send us a design, fabric samples or items that have the colors you want (photo). You can also select and send us your own fabrics.  We can give you needed yardage and will discount the final quilt price.

Can I Add A Special Date or Message?
You can add poems, special messages, sayings, lyrics, company logos, unit crests as well as wedding, birthday and anniversary dates. The guideline we use for sizing any custom embroidery work is the larger the photos in photo memory quilts, the larger the font type size you should use. We will also recommend a font size. We can also make custom quilt blocks with your poem or other message printed onto the fabric. We can also embroider fabric and place your personalized custom message on the back of custom photo memory quilt.

Can We Incorporate Art Work?
Anything you can either scan or print can be included in a custom photo memory quilt. One of our favorite art to include in custom photo memory quilts is original artwork like children's drawings.

Can I Include Clothing In Custom Photo Quilts?
We can make memory quilts out of clothing such as baby clothes (photo) and incorporate clothing into custom memory quilts. Let us know what part of the clothing is important to incorporate into the overall custom memory quilt design.

What Makes Your Custom Photo Quilts Different?
The color matching we do with the overall quilt design and our high quality cotton fabrics make our photo memory quilts heirloom quality custom quilts. We also use Color Plus Fabrics  designed and developed by a silk tie manufacturer. Color quality and permanent color retention are the best we've seen on the market.

Can You Transfer Photos and Art Onto Fabric So I Can Make My Own Quilts?
We certainly can!  We recommend you send original art work and/or photos for best resolution and indicate whether you want the art work and/or photos printed vertically or horizontally. We also ask that you send us the actual photos you want printed. We will email you to confirm that we've received the art work and/or photos.

Can I Wash Photo Memory Quilts?
Because of the high quality photo transfer fabric we use, photos are permanently set and photo memory quilts can be washed. We recommend using cold water and low PH soap such as Ivory to preserve photo colors.

Can I Put Photos On Finished Quilts?
We've transferred photos to fabric and appliqued photos onto existing quilt designs. We've also incorporated photos into a design on quilts, lap quilts, crib quilts, baby quilts, pillows, shirt pockets and napkins. What you can do with photos is limited only by your imagination!

How Do I Order Custom Picture Quilts and Photo Memory Quilts?
You can send us your original concept on paper, as the customers in the photo did. (And yes, one of the designs was on the back of an envelope!) You can also call us at 877-598-1908 to discuss. We recommend you start by filling out our online quilt design form or email us the details of your picture quilts and photo memory quilts. How Long Does It Take To Make A Photo Memory Quilt?

Plan on 4 months. It usually takes 2-4 weeks to finalize details. The manufacturing process takes about 3 months; less for smaller quilts, more time for larger ones. The time starts counting once all details are finalized and a 25% down payment is received.

How Do I Get My Photos To You?
You can send them hard copy to the following address:
Bluebird Gardens, 1001 Bluebird Lane, Rolla, MO 65401.
If you send hard copy photos, we'll return them when we ship you the completed custom quilt. You can also email photos in jpg format to 4bluebirdgardens at gmail.com. A small additional fee may apply to cover the cost of downloading and setting up photos in the proper size and format.

Good Golly Miss Molly

Just as flowers have special meanings, so do names. One way to make a gift special is to add information about the meaning of someone's name.

This customer had us make a custom double wedding ring for her best friend and wanted it to be "extra" special. Besides picking fabrics that matched her bedroom decor, we added the meaning behind the bride and grooms' names printed on fabric next to each other in the custom quilt center.

Since the friend was a bridesmaid, we also had inside information about the wedding flowers, which we custom embroidered on each of the custom quilt corners. Any one of these would be a great way to customize a quilt; this one had lots of personal touches from the bride's best friend!

Note to Mom in Custom Made to Order Quilt

One of our custom made to order quilt orders included this well-worn card.
The customer insisted the card needed to be printed on fabric and placed in the center of the custom quilt.
This is inspiration for all of our customers who want suggestions on what to embroider on a quilt for their Mom besides "thanks, Mom!"

To a Pine Tree Custom Made to Order Quilt

There's nothing quite like seeing the world through the eyes of second grade elementary school children.
Over the years, we've made a number of custom quilts with their original art work printed onto fabric.
This quilt featured their drawings of a pine tree.
Can you tell this is the same tree?

Family Dignity Custom Quilt

One of the more unusual custom quilt requests we have had was to make a custom made to order quilt to cover a casket.

What made this quilt unusual was that the family wanted family photos printed onto fabric and included with names and birth dates.

As the dignity custom quilt was used, death dates were to be added, leaving a "dignity quilt" as a family memento.

It's very interesting to see the different uses our customers make of our custom quilts.

Personalized Hanky Quilt

As a high school graduation gift for her daughter, this customer wanted us to incorporate photos we printed onto fabric in the center of the blocks of this handkerchief quilt. Not all of them, just enough to highlight some of her daughter's favorite school memories.

Nice to have the handkerchief's handy!

Printed Photos Personalized Throw

Sometimes there's not enough time to make something from scratch so why not start with something ready made.

We printed photo collages onto our treated fabric, then added it to a ready made quilt. Picking the right throw to compliment photo colors helped make this quilt look like it was custom-made.

Personalize with Bridal Flowers

Sometimes our customers like to personalize their custom double wedding ring quilts with photos and embroidery.

The bride's best friend sent us a copy of the wedding announcement, which had the flowers the bride would be carrying down the aisle. T

he best friend didn't know what the flowers were but we did and quickly added these white orchids to the corner circles of the custom double wedding ring quilt.

Pretty, don't you think?

Thanks to Mom Personalized Wildflowers Throw

This family wanted their Mom to feel extra special on her birthday.
We started brain-storming adjectives and ended up embroidering our brand new, all cotton Wildflowers Throw in brick red embroidery. Each adjective was carefully discussed and added to the list, words reflecting all of the qualities family members saw in their Mom.

I have only one word for this family: beautiful.

Add Printed Photos on Quilt

One way to quickly make a personalized gift is to add photos printed on fabric, then sew them on a quilt. Pick a quilt with favorite colors or a charming pattern such as handkerchief quilt. If you're not sure of colors, select something with a variety; that way the quilt will blend in with any room decor. I can print photos onto fabric; then you can cut them out and sew them on a quilt. We'll also be glad to do that for you!

Nuts About This Crazy Quilt

I am crazy over this brand new crazy quilt top from one of my talented piecing artists.

Look closely at it, she’s incorporated not only fabric remnants from other projects but the teeniest tiniest fabric pieces. And she says she does this to relax! I love Victorian crazy quilts. I even have one from 1910 hanging in my den but these teeny tiny pieces would drive me – well, you know.

It’s All In the Ears

When one of four customers wanted a personalized appliqué dachshund quilt
design, I was ready.
Custom fabric colors, check.
Adding her dog names to collars, check.
How about flapping dog ears…
Well, no guarantee but we did everything we could to give the ears a
chance to flap. They’re made out of lightweight fabric and attached only
at the top so with a good wind…
